A woman, Meena Devi, rescued a 10 month old baby before a train mowed him down. She dived and caught the toddler who was flung in the air by his father just before he hit the ground. She also fed him and took him to hospital where he underwent a CT scan to ascertain the nature of his head injury.
The baby was identified as the son of Radhika who was severely injured in the accident and was admitted in a private hospital in Amritsar. However the father of the baby who threw him in the air to save him, died in the accident. Meena Devi who hails from Nepal and who is employed as a cook was praised for her brave act.
