Veteran Tamil actor Srikanth dies at 82

Veteran Tamil actor Srikanth, who made his acting debut with late Jayalalitha in 1965 in the classic Vennira Adai died at the age of 82. He is said to have died due to old age. The film Vennira Adai meaning -The White cloth was directed by late CV Sridhar.


Srikanth had an acting career that spanned 40 years. He not only acted as a hero but also donned the role of a villain many a time. He also did many supporting roles in films starring big names in Tamil cinema including the late Sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.
Before acting in films, Srikanth was working in the American Consulate in Chennai and was also active in theatre. He was part of notable Tamil stage productions.
He won the National Award for the film Dikkatra Parvathi in the year 1974 in which he acted with actress Lakshmi.
Chief Minister MK Stalin condoled the death of actor Srikanth. He also offered his condolences to the bereaved family.
