Training event of Thozhi scheme

Chennai City Police Commissioner, Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal unveiled a poster at the ‘Thozhi’ training event held in the city yesterday. This scheme was launched last year in November and 400 victims of sexual assault were given counselling and support from women police personnel. While inaugurating a refresher training programme for women police personnel, the Commissioner stated that the scheme was launched to provide legal support, moral support, financial support, psychological support and social support to the victims. This initiative was launched to render service at the doorsteps of the public. A video-call grievance facility was set up during the pandemic period to allow people to directly contact the Commissioner through a WhatsApp video call.


Through this facility, women could lodge complaints from their homes. There were around 400 police patrol vehicles that received complaints from the public. Suitable action was taken after conducting enquiries.Tamil Nadu is the first State that started the All Women Police Stations.
The other guests at this event included Dr. Dhinakaran, IPS, H. Jayalakshmi IPS, Loyola College Professor, Andrew, Advocate Adhilakshmi Logamurthy and Actor Damu.
