TN Chief Minister says that efforts are being made to scrap NEET

Since the introduction of NEET, (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) many students in Tamil Nadu have been committing suicide. Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin has appealed to students to face life with self confidence and not to harbour any suicidal ideas after a medical aspirant ended his life.

He stated that when political change takes place, NEET barriers will come crashing down. He offered condolences to student Jagatheeswaran and his father Selvasekhar who allegedly died by suicide. He said that these deaths should be the last on the NEET issue.
A number of NEET related suicides have been reported in the state in the past few years. The CM also said that the state government is working on how to remove the hurdle. The TN Assembly has passed resolutions demanding NEET exemption for Tamil Nadu which has been returned by Governor Ravi. The government has sent the second resolution to the President for assent.
