Virat Kohli’s team Royal Challengers Bengaluru took home the winners cup in the Indian Premier League 2025. They defeated Punjab Kings in a thrilling match held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.Though RCB reached the finals four times earlier, this is their maiden victory.
RCB won the trophy after a very long wait of 18 years. Captain Virat Kohli was very emotional and spoke after the match saying ”I’ve given the team my youth, my prime, my experience. I gave it everything I have. I never thought this day would come. I was overcome with emotion as soon as the last ball was bowled”
Kohli was the top scorer for his team with 43 runs. The team who batted first put up a good score of 190 on the board. In a close finish, they bowled out Punjab Kings for 184 and won by a narrow margin of 6 runs. Krunal Pandya was the pick of the bowlers for RCB with two wickets.
Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first. The entire crowd of around 91000 erupted into cheers after RCB won the match.
