The week old strike for Government Employees and Teachers fizzled out as about 97% of teachers and more than 85% of Government employees reported back for duty. The threat of disciplinary action made them rejoin duty.

The Tamilnadu Advocate General Vijay Narayan who appeared before the High Court ruled out any talks with the protesting Government employees on the ground that the unions assured the court that they would withdraw the strike immediately if the government was ready for talks. Justice N.Kirubakaran tried to act as a bridge between the government and the protesting employees but it failed to evoke any response .Officials said that they would  be no change in the practical exam schedule and it would go on as scheduled.
