As cyclone Tauktae intensifies IAF and Southern Naval Command ready for any crisis

Kerala has been receiving heavy rain and strong winds along with intense flooding near coastal areas like Chellanam since yesterday. Relief camps have been set up but people are reluctant to move in due to the pandemic situation. Kerala is presently under lockdown with Ernakulam along with three other districts going into triple lockdown from 17th May due to the surge in cases.

Cyclone Tauktae is adding to the woes of the people and it is expected to turn into a severe cyclonic storm in the next 12 hours. The Indian Navy’s relief team and Southern Naval Command along with Quick Reaction team from INS Dronacharya extended their help to flood hit areas .The IAF has said that it is ready with 18 helicopters and 16 aircrafts to deal with any crisis situation.The National Disaster Response Force teams have been deployed in five states  in view of the cyclone turning severe. As per the meteorological department the cyclone is expected to head for the coast of Gujarat and Daman and Diu.
