Tarzan actor presumed dead in US plane crash

A US plane crashed into a lake near the US city of Nashville. Sources said that the small business jet crashed shortly after taking off from the Smyrna, Tennessee airport. All the seven passengers on board including Tarzan actor Joe Lara and his wife are presumed to be dead.


The plane went down into Percy Priest lake about 12 miles south of Nashville. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that 7 people were on board.
Rescue operations found several components of the aircraft as well as human remains in a debris field.


Lara played Tarzan in the 1989 movie ”Tarzan in Manhattan” and later acted in the television series “Tarzan:The Epic Adventures,” which aired from 1996-1997. His wife Gwen Shamblin Lara whom he married in 2018 was the leader of a Christian weight loss group called Weigh Down Ministries. She founded this group in 1986 and later in 1999, she founded another group- the Remnant Fellowship Church in Brentwood, Tennessee. She is survived by two children from her previous marriage.
