Tamil Nadu tightens curbs and reduces business hours for shops

Tamil Nadu has tightened the pandemic lockdown protocol by imposing a total ban on other business outlets and reducing the business hours for grocery, vegetable, meat and fish shops by two hours. From today, these shops can be open only between 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Even Ecommerce entities will be permitted to deliver goods till 10 a.m. All tea shops will be closed and no pavement shops will be permitted to open.


Chief Minister M.K.Stalin said that these curbs were essential to restrict movement of people and the spread of the virus.
Pharmacies will be allowed to open along with ATM outlets and petrol bunks.People have been asked to purchase their groceries and essential items from their nearest outlets. They have been asked to strictly follow all pandemic protocols like wearing masks, washing hands frequently and maintaining social distancing.
Registration is compulsory for those entering the state from other states and countries. People travelling to other districts for marriages, funerals or treatment of the elderly will have to take e-registration. The night curfew from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. will continue and the complete lockdown will be enforced on May 16 and 23.
