Sylendra Babu appointed DGP of Tamil Nadu

The government of Tamil Nadu has appointed C.Sylendra Babu a 1987 batch IPS officer as the new DGP. He will take charge after the current DGP J.K. Tripathy retires today, the 30th of June. Chief Secretary V. Irai Anbu issued the order appointing him as Director General of Police.


Sylendra Babu hails from Kanyakumari district. He has many degrees after his name- MSc degree in Agriculture, M.A., MBA, PhD and PGD (cybercrime investigation)
He speaks Tamil, English, Hindi, Malayalam and French. He has written books and has been an inspiration for many youngsters to join the civil services.
He served in various key positions and also as Commissioner of Police in Coimbatore district where he excelled in handling the law and order situation.
He is a fitness freak and did immense service to the people of Chennai during the floods which hit Chennai in 2015 and he rescued many stranded people from their houses.
