According to a poll of global experts, India is the most dangerous country for women due to high risk of sexual violence. Afghanistan and Syria rank second and third followed by Somalia and Saudi Arabia.
The survey was conducted by the Thomson Reuters Foundation that had about 550 experts on women’s issues.In the 2011 survey, India was ranked after Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo and Pakistan.India moved to the top spot as nothing was done to tackle the danger that women faced. India was also most dangerous in terms of human trafficking, sex slavery, domestic servitude, female infanticide etc. The Ministry of Women and Child Development declined to comment on the results of the survey.
