Special children taken on Metro ride

A day ahead of International Day for People with Disabilities, around 260 school differently abled children were taken on a Metro ride from Egmore to Airport and back. Excitement was writ large on the faces of these children as it was the first time many of them travelled in a Metro.
Children from special schools in Chennai, Karur, Turunelveli, Coimbatore, Kanyakumari and Theni were in the city to participate in a series of cultural programmes organized by the Social Welfare Department. They were first taken on the Metro and later were taken to watch the film Frozen at Satyam Cinemas. Students of the Government Middle School for the hearing impaired also got to visit the Air Force Station in Tambaram.
