Congress President Sonia Gandhi met the newly elected President Draupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi. This visit is amidst the ongoing internal differences in the Congress party. Congress sources said that this was a courtesy visit.
This is her first visit after Murmu was elected President. Murmu is the second woman and the first tribal President of the country. The Congress did not support Murmu but backed Yashwant Sinha the joint opposition candidate
Meanwhile Sonia will be travelling abroad for her medical check-up along with both her children Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi. She will also visit her ailing mother before she returns to Delhi
