The Madras High Court observed that single parenting is dangerous for society and that a child needs affection of both the parents. Society has evolved from joint families to nuclear families and further to single parenting.
The Court held this to be a dangerous trend as lack of love and affection from both parents may lead to behavioral problems in children. The Court also wanted a bifurcation in the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development. The Judge asked the Central Government as to why there cannot be separate ministries for Women Development and for Child Development.
