We can’t get enough of some classics that the Indian film industry has produced over the years. Many of these films are remade to carry the legacy and if the remake is done right, then the film surely becomes an entertainer served with loads of nostalgia. The latest to join the bandwagon of remakes is the 1978 hit film Aval Appadithaan. The film had Sri Priya as the heroine, playing Manju, a bold woman who preferred to live her life in her own terms. While Kamal essayed the role of a feminist, Rajini portrayed a male chauvinist in the film.

Director Badri Venkatesh has expressed his interest in remaking this cult film and Shruti Haasan will reprise the role of Sri Priya. Simbu is touted to reprise the role of Rajini, meanwhile, Dulquer Salmaan may play the role of Kamal Haasan. It’s reported that since the director of the original is no more, the team is on the lookout for the person who is owning the rights of the movie so that they can initiate discussions to acquire it. Let’s hope that this project falls in place and we get to witness this saga again on the big screen. Aval Appadithaan is one of those rare films which has Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth together.

On the professional front, Simbu has Maanadu and a guest role in Maha. He was recently seen in Gautham Menon’s short film Karthik Dial Seidha Yen which also starred Trisha. Shruti announced that she is a part of Vijay Sethupathi’s next film titled Laabam. And Dulquer Salmaan will be seen next in Hey Sinamika alongside Aditi Rao Hydari.
