Sasikala met actor Rajinikanth at his Poes Garden residence. The purpose of the visit was to enquire about his health and also to congratulate him personally for winning the Dadasaheb Phalke Award this year.
She is said to have had a formal conversation with the actor and his wife Latha. Rajinikanth had been admitted to hospital in October where he underwent a carotid artery revascularisation.
Rajinikanth launched his political party Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM) in December 2020 but later disbanded it and announced that he does not have any intentions of entering politics at any point of time.
This meeting has raised speculations among party circles about Sasikala’s plan to get back into the AIADMK. She was expelled from the party in January after she was released from jail where she served a 4 year sentence in the disproportionate assets case.
A case filed by her challenging the AIADMK general council resolutions removing her from the post of interim general secretary is pending in the City Civil Court, Chennai.
