Russian President Vladimir Putin has introduced a new scheme to restore the demographics in the country. The scheme is called Mother Heroine scheme and it includes a one payment of 1 million roubles to mothers to give birth to and keep alive 10 children.
This move is described as a desperate attempt by experts. Dr. Jenny Mathers, Russian politics and security expert said that the scheme is a measure to replenish the dwindling population. Russia has lost many lives due to the coronavirus pandemic and many soldiers have died in Ukraine due to the ongoing war.
The women will get a one time payment of 1 million roubles after their tenth child reaches its first birthday and all the other 9 are alive. This is an attempt to encourage Russian women to have more babies and raise big families.
