China’s Xinhua state news agency used a lifelike robotic news anchor to present a story about delegates attending an annual Parliament meeting. The anchor had features that mimic human facial expressions and mannerisms. The artificial intelligence robot named Xin Xiaomeng had a short haircut and was dressed in a pink blouse and earrings for the one minute video presentation.
Xin Xiaomeng is modelled after news anchor Qu Meng. The news agency displayed two news anchors who were dressed in men’s clothes last November at the World Internet Conference in Eastern China.
