Ratan Tata turns 86 today

Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons turned 86 today. Wishes have been pouring in for him from all quarters wishing him a long life and good health.
Ratan Tata studied Architecture and Engineering at Cornell University and became part of the Tata group as an assistant in 1962. He received training at the Jamshedpur plant of Tata Engineering Locomotive Company, now called Tata Motors. He later worked at Tisco, Tata Consultancy Services and became the Chairman of Air India from 1986 to 1989.


He played a major role in restructuring the Tata group and also in the business expansion of popular cars like Tata Nano and Tata Indica.
He was bestowed with the Padma Bhushan Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008. He is a bachelor and came close to getting married four times but it did not materialise.
