Rajinikanth receives Dadasaheb Phalke Award

Superstar from the South, Rajinikanth received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award which is India’s highest film honour from Vice President Venkaiah Naidu. He dedicated the award to his old bus driver friend who suggested that he join films. Rajinikanth worked as a bus conductor before he entered the film industry.


Rajinikanth also dedicated his award to late filmmaker K.Balachander, who directed his first film Apoorva Raagangal, to his directors, producers, theatre owners, technicians and fans.
His wife Latha, daughter Aishwarya and son-in-law Dhanush attended the ceremony. Dhanush won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film Asuran.
Rajinikanth has acted in blockbuster films like Sivaji, Enthiran, Nallavanuku Nallavan, Thalapathy, Annamalai, Chandramukhi, Baasha, Sri Raghavendra, Peddarayudu, Nattukku Oru Nallavan etc. His new film Annaatthe will premiere next month.
