Pune woman becomes fastest Asian to cycle across the globe

A 20 year old woman from Pune Vedangi Kulkarni has achieved an incredible feat of becoming the fastest Asian to cycle across the globe. She hails from a suburb of Pune. She cycled into Kolkata and completed the prescribed 25,000 km distance to qualify. She began her cycling journey from Perth in July and she will be flying back there to complete the record.

She spent 159 days peddling up to 300 kms a day in 14 countries.She faced problems getting the necessary visas and this delayed her departure. The weather in Europe played truant but that didn’t deter her from proceeding. Vedangi is a student of the University of Bournemouth in the U K. doing a degree in sports management. She did this journey alone as she could not find anyone to accompany her.
