Following a high-level executive committee meeting at the DMK party headquarters yesterday, the DMK has decided to hold a State-wide protest against Hindi imposition on September 20.  A party statement said that the BJP government is trying to impose Hindi  and is attempting to turn India into a Hindi speaking country.
They felt that the Union Government was acting against other languages including Tamil which is on the 8th Schedule and it is posing a danger to the foundation of these languages. DMK party sources said that the government instead of concentrating on imposing Hindi on non- Hindi speaking states should concentrate on doing positive work to take the country forward.
