Round Table India and Ladies Circle India presented the ‘Pride of Karnataka Awards’.  The awards were given to achievers from Karnataka across different walks of life for the seventh consecutive year. Chief Guest, Mr. Gopalagowda, Justice (retd), Supreme Court of India, presented the award to Mrs. Shilpa Shetty Kundra for her contribution in the field of health and fitness category, Mr. Syed Kirmani in the field of sports, Mrs. Arundhati Raja and Mr. Jagdish Raja for their contribution to theatre, Mrs. Suparna Ganguly for Social Work, Mr. Danish Sait for Entertainment, Mr. B K S Varma for Art and Mrs. Meena Ganesh for Entrepreneurship.

‘Pride of Karnataka’ is an award instituted by the Round Table India and Ladies Circle India to honour individuals who have significantly contributed to their fields and brought laurels to the state. A five-member jury from the Round Table India and Ladies Circle India chose the recipients for the awards based on their achievements and their contribution to their respective fields. The awardees this year have been chosen for their outstanding work in the field of Social Work, Sports, Theatre, Art, Entertainment, Health and Fitness and Entrepreneurship.

On the occasion, National President of Round Table India Mr. Manpreet Singh Raja said, “As always, Round Table India for the seventh consecutive year is extremely privileged in recognizing the prominent personalities for the tremendous outstanding work they have undertaken over the years and have made Karnataka proud. Round table India and its members believe in making a difference to the society in our own capacity. We believe the awardees here today are a true testimony that the youth of our society can look upto.”

Mr. Ravi Vijayasarathy, Partner, RV Constructions said, “It is a privilege for our company to associate with this prestigious event Pride of Karnataka. We salute Round Table India and Ladies Circle India for all the worthy community service work they are doing across the country.

Shilpa Shetty Kundra, awardee for health and fitness, said,“This award bestowed on me for my contribution towards health and fitness means a lot. I am proud to be a Kannadiga and I am thankful to my parents who supported me throughout my journey.”

On receiving the award Cricketer Syed Kirmani said, “Feeling Proud to be a Kannadiga. It is a great and a special feeling to be recognized for the services rendered. Thank you Round Table India.”

Mr. Jagdish and Arundhati Raja, prominent theatre personalities, said, “Our connect with Round Table India and Ladies Circle India goes back to 1979, when we were elected Charter Chairperson of Bangalore Metropolitan Ladies Circle 5 and Charter Chairman of BMRT 44. To be elevated as the Pride of Karnataka awardees for 2016 is indeed an honour and to join the ranks of people we hold in great admiration is humbling and well, quite joyful.”

Expressing his happiness on receiving the award Mr. Danish Saitsaid, “It is very humbling to get an award like this. Karnataka has so many things to be proud of, amidst all of it, we realise how miniscule we are and being recognised as the Pride of Karnataka means a lot to me.”

Mrs. Suparna Ganguly, Co-founder trustee, CUPA, said, “I feel privileged to be chosen by the Round Table as the voice for all animals, who deserve a rightful place in our society. The Round Table Award signifies the inclusion of animal protection in social work today. This award is a milestone since it extends respect and value for animal welfare and rights.”

Dr. B K S Varma, renowned painter, said, “Awards are given to those not because of their name but because of their work. Their work is important and not the person. It is an honor to receive this award which I consider as an encouragement and God’s gift.”
