President Murmu on a two day visit to Nagaland

President Draupaudi Murmu is on a two day visit to Nagaland where she virtually launched 75 projects organised by the Nagaland government. While addressing a public gathering, she stated that society will develop if women are empowered.


Nagaland is reported to have the highest literacy rate among women and is also the safest place for women in the country. Nagaland is said to give high respect to women. President Murmu congratulated Phangon Konyak on becoming the first woman Rajya Sabha MP from Nagaland. She urged more women from the state to get involved in public life.
The 75 projects that were launched relate to schools, hostels, roads, bridges and a new treasury building. The President also launched smart classrooms in 190 government schools in the state. She feels that these measures will further improve literacy rate and also boost tourism and the economy of Nagaland.
