Postmaster lost 1 crore in IPL bets by using savings of public

A postmaster in Madhya Pradesh is alleged to have lost Rs 1 crore by betting in the Indian Premier League cricket matches. He has burned out the savings of two dozen families that were deposited at a sub post office in Sagar district.


The Bina sub post office postmaster Vishal Ahirwar was arrested by the Bina Government Railway Police and he has confessed to the police about his crime. He is said to have issued genuine passbooks for fake FD accounts and used the entire money for betting in the IPL for the past two years.
He has been booked under sections of cheating and criminal breach of trust- sections 420 and 408 of the Indian Penal Code. Meanwhile investigations are going on in the case.
