Pope Francis gives blessing with the Blessed Sacrament

In the wake of the whole world coming to a standstill due to Covid-19, Holy Father, Pope Francis, addressed the people of the world from Saint Peter’s Basilica. The blessing “Urbi et Orbi” with attached plenary indulgence by means of a specific warning was given at 6p.m which corresponded to 10 30 p.m Indian Standard Time.

Catholics and Christians across the globe watched and received blessings from the Holy Father by means of radio, television, computers and even mobile phones. The prayer lasted for exactly an hour. There was a gospel reading from the book of Mark about Jesus calming the storm, a small sermon, Adoration and Eucharistic blessing. The service concluded at 11.30 p.m with the Pope giving blessing with the Blessed Sacrament.
