The exhibition will be on display from 14th September 2018 to 28th October 2018.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Hellmuth Conz
Born at Tuebingen in Germany in 1948, Hellmuth took to photography very early in life. He went on to do a rigorous seven years program in photography, and worked as a professional photographer for 24 years in Germany. Growing increasingly wary of commercial photography, he moved to India in 1997 and took up teaching positions in several colleges in Bangalore. He also runs a school of photography in Bangalore, Licht Learn with Light.
The series displayed here, showcases serendipitous moments captured by his lens that brings out not just a play of colours in some, but also an uncomfortable pondering on the fast paced lives we lead. All photos have been captured on the field and transport us through various facets of motion and stillness.
Adam Barr
Born in Kettering, United Kingdom, Adam has travelled extensively around the world but is consumed and mesmerized only by India. Adam worked at The Times in London until January 2017, after which he shifted to India and settled in Pune. Often overcome by the relentless energy of life in India, he revels in visiting the less frequented parts of India. Faces are an important part of Adam’s work and the work on display offers an indication of the rapport he’s able to build with his subjects, overcoming language barriers and connecting in other ways, sharing chai being a favoured method.
The series shown offers a glimpse at India’s variety, industry, rural life and immense landscapes. Captured over one year, they acknowledge the beautiful essence of India and her inhabitants.
Magali Couffon de Trevros
Magali is a French photographer, living in India for the past 24 years. Coming from an expatriate family, she has always been on the road, so adventure is in her blood and “passionate traveller ” is what describes her best. After a lot of trips and 15 years in the textile industry, photography came naturally to her as her mode of communication, as she loved it’s flexibility and it’s unlimited options of light play, colour and composition. Most of her works are about people and documenting lives and the stories they tell. She presents their imperfections and their realities for the world to see through her eyes. She has started active collaborations and this has opened new fields of action.
The series she displays here has been created with Christelle Flisch. It is a mix of street and conceptual photography, clubbing composition and reality to make an aesthetic statement, which is poetic too. It is a fine example of her goal to find beauty everywhere and capture it.
