People cannot be forced to get vaccinated and this has been conveyed by the Centre to the Supreme Court. According to the Central government, inoculation guidelines issued by the Union health ministry do not envisage forcible vaccination without obtaining the consent of people.

The Centre has also informed the court that it has not issued any SOP that makes it mandatory to carry the vaccination certificate for any purpose. All these details were filed in an affidavit in response to a petition by an NGO Evara Foundation that is seeking door-to-door priority Covid-19 vaccination for persons with disabilities.
The government has submitted that the vaccination drive is for the interest of the public due to the ongoing pandemic. Though it is advisable that all citizens should get vaccinated, no person can be forced to take the vaccine against their wish.
