PENN’S UDAYAL PADAI inaugurated in Queen Mary’s College

PENN, an organization for Protection and Empowerment of Naari has been formed with an endeavour to educate women to be reactive and to encourage men to be protective rather than to perpetuate. It aims to work for the safety of women and children and to prevent sexual crimes.

Working towards the goal of protecting and empowering women and children, the first Udayal Padai was commissioned at Queen Mary’s College, Chennai on the 16th of March, where 50 students participated and received training. The Krav Maga Workshop for students was conducted by coaches Mithun and P. Varsha.

The inaugural address for the Udayal Padai, Ezhuchi Pattarai was delivered by V. Sriram Sharma, the Writer and Director of Velu Nachiyar and a Trustee of PENN. The Foreword was delivered by V.S. Sridhar, the Managing Trustee of PENN, while the Acceptance Speech was delivered by Dr. B. Uma Maheswari, Principal of Queen Mary’s College. The students will be taken to visit Sivagangai, the birth place of Rani Velu Nachiyar in an Udayal Padai march.
