More than 12,000, schools conducted a meeting with parents regarding the reopening of schools for classes 9 to 12 in districts of Chennai, Chengalpet, Kanchipuram, Trichy, Ranipet and Vellore. A majority of the parents wanted schools to reopen in January 2021 fearing a possible second wave of the virus.
However many parents of students in government schools wanted schools to reopen. As of now classes are being conducted online. However some students complain of frequent interruptions due to network issues. Some of them don’t take online classes seriously. Many parents have requested the government to consider dropping the entire academic year. The students who will be appearing for board exams are worried about practicals.
