Pakistan set to get its first woman judge in the Supreme Court

Justice Ayesha Malik’s name has been cleared to be elevated from the Lahore High Court to the Supreme Court in Pakistan and is all set to become the first woman Supreme Court judge.
The Judicial Commission of Pakistan headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed approved of the elevation of Justice Ayesha Malik by a majority of five votes against four.


This is the second meeting held by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan to decide on the elevation of Justice Ayesha. The first meeting was held in September last year but was rejected due to a tie of four votes against four.
Justice Ayesha is an LLM graduate from Harvard Law School. She was a partner at a corporate and commercial law firm before her elevation to the Lahore High Court. She is known for her discipline and integrity.
