One more convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case moves SC for release

0

P. Ravichandran, one of the convicts in former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination case has moved the Supreme Court to be released like his fellow convict AG Perarivalan. He has served 30 years in jail and he has sought interim bail until the case is disposed of.
Ravichandran had earlier approached the Madras High Court for his release but his petition was dismissed on the ground that high courts do not have special powers like the Supreme Court.

Earlier this year, the Supreme Court ordered the release of AG Perarivalan. while six other convicts continue to languish in jail
Ravichandran had also written a letter to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin seeking the release of the remaining six convicts.
