Novak Djokovic disqualified from US Open

World No I tennis player, Novak Djokovic was disqualified from the US Open fourth round after striking a line judge with a ball. In the match against Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta, he got frustrated after losing 3 set points and trailing 5-6, that he swotted a ball so hard to the back of the court and it hit a female judge in her throat. She screamed in pain and fell to the ground.

Seeing this scene, Djokovic ran over to her to apologise. However as per the rules of the Grand Slam where players don’t have a right to physically abuse any official, opponent or spectator within the precincts of the tournament site. Hence Djokovic was disqualified. He shook hands with his opponent and left the court without attending the press conference. He later posted an apology on Instagram.
