Anita Bose Pfaff, daughter of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose will miss the unveiling of her father’s statue at India Gate by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. She stated that though she received the invitation to attend the unveiling of the statue, the short notice made it difficult for her to travel from Germany where she currently resides.

The statue is being unveiled at India Gate under a canopy where the image of King George V, stood earlier. She stated that she would like to meet Prime Minister Modi to discuss the return of her father’s remains kept in an urn at Renkoji in Japan.
She further stated that a DNA test could be conducted to clarify doubts but was not sure if DNA could be extracted from the remains despite scientific advances.
Bose is said to have died in a plane crash in August 1945 in Taipei.
