A bride in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh called off the wedding as the bridegroom turned up drunk for the wedding. Not only the groom but many of his friends too were found to be under the influence of alcohol.

The stage was set and all the arrangements were made for the wedding of teacher Vinod Shukla’s daughter Neha with Piyush Mishra, son of retired deputy director Nagendramani Mishra. After the wedding procession was welcomed by the bride’s family, the bride and the groom got on the stage for the garland ceremony when the bride noticed that the groom was intoxicated. She refused to go on with the ceremony in spite of many people trying to convince her.
