Prime Minister Narendra Modi met up with the new Prime Minister of the UK, Rishi Sunak at the G-20 summit being held in Bali, Indonesia. Hours after the meeting, the UK Prime Minister has given the green signal for a scheme that offers 3,000 visas for young Indian professionals to work in the UK each year.

This scheme will provide 18 to 30 year old degree educated Indians a once in a lifetime opportunity to take part in a professional and cultural exchange beginning from early 2023. India is the first country to benefit from such a scheme according to a statement from the UK Prime Minister’s Office. It came just hours after the meeting between PM Modi and Sunak. It is said to be their first meeting since Sunak assumed office last month.
Currently Indians form a large part of the UK’s immigrant population and nearly a quarter of all international students in the UK are from India.
