The Woman Behind India’s First COVID-19 Testing Kits

Minal Dakhave Bhosale was guiding a team of 10 persons who were working on the project at Mylab Discovery in Pune. She was in the last stage of pregnancy and even had complications when she was working on India’s first COVID-19 testing kit. Her efforts paid off as her team delivered the kit in a record time of six weeks, just a day before she gave birth to a baby girl.

Reportedly, The test kit her team created will not only reduce the time taken for delivering the result but is also comparatively affordable. Bhosale said she felt that it was the right time to serve the people to help them in combating the coronavirus threat. Though Bhosale was not able to visit the office due to the pregnancy, she was guiding the team who were working on the project. Company’s co-founder Shrikant Patole said just like drug discovery, test kits too go through a lot of quality checks to improve the precision. He credited Bhosale for the success of the project.
