The Supreme Court has permitted the daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to meet her mother. She is presently in Kashmir under detention in a hut near the Governor’s residence following the revocation of the special status granted to the State a month ago.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi granted the permission. Her daughter Ilthija is in Chennai and she will be able to meet her mother in private as she was concerned about the health of her mother. She will be able to move around to other parts of Srinagar after getting the necessary permission from the district authorities. Mehbooba’s mother and sister met her earlier with the permission of the District Magistrate.
