A man was detained by the police after he threw eggs at King Charles and Queen consort Camilla as they visited Northern England. Video footage of the incident that is going round on social media shows four eggs flying past King Charles and Camilla and getting smashed on the ground. However, King Charles was unmoved by the incident and carried on with the engagement.

Police have arrested a 23 year old man on suspicion of a public order offence. He is now in police custody. King Charles is on a two day tour of northern Ireland. He unveiled a statue of his late mother in New York which was planned to mark her 70th year on the throne.
Reports say that this incident of egg throwing is not the first and that eggs were thrown at Queen Elizabeth’s car too when she visited Nottingham, central England in 2022.
