Man from Dehradun to adopt 100 orphans

The coronavirus pandemic has left many children orphaned as some of them have lost both their parents to covid. A social worker from Dehradun has come forward to adopt 100 children who have been orphaned.


Jai Sharma, founder of the city-based NGO JOY (Just Open Yourself) has begun the campaign of adopting 100 children apart from the existing 20 adopted ones. He stated that he found many children who had lost both parents and who were left alone at home. Some were in classes 4 and 5 age group and some were even younger. According to Jai, they were already taking care of 20 kids and providing them with food, medicines, finances etc. He now plans to take care of 100 more such kids till they become self-sufficient.
His team is reaching out to various villages and Gram Pradhans to offer help. Besides this, JOY has also been actively involved in helping out with pandemic relief work. They have been distributing free oxygen cylinders, COVID medical kits. sanitization kits and other medical equipment to those in need.
