Lockdown prevented about 29 lakh Covid 19 cases

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Harsh Vardhan, announced in the Lok Sabha that the nationwide lockdown imposed in the country has helped to prevent about 29 lakh Covid 19 cases and about 78,000 deaths.
India’s tally has reached the 4.8 million mark out of which, 9,86,595 are active cases, 37,80,107 patients have been cured and discharged and only 79,722 people lost their lives. He disclosed that maximum number of cases were from Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, West Bengal, Bihar, Telangana, Odisha, Assam, Kerala and Gujarat. He also confirmed that 92% of coronavirus cases in India only exhibited mild symptoms of the virus, oxygen had to be supplied to 5.8% and critical care to 1.7 % cases.
