Lawyers in Delhi shout shout slogans against murder accused

Aftab Poonawala, accused of strangling his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar and cutting her body into 35 pieces was produced before the Metropolitan Magistrate in Delhi yesterday. Around 100 lawyers gathered there and shouted slogans demanding death penalty for Poonawala who is now in police custody.


As he is accused of a gruesome murder, the lawyers demanded that the investigation be held expeditiously in a fast track court. Poonawala who is 28 years old is accused of murdering Shraddha by strangling her, cutting her body and keeping it in a fridge before dumping the parts across the city over several days well past midnight. They were living together for 3 years and had frequent arguments over financial issues. One such fight took place on May 18th when Poonawala killed Shraddha.
