The wedding took place at Guruvayoor temple in Kerala

Based on news reports of the grand wedding of Ganesh Pillai, son of industrialist Ravi Pillai, the Kerala High Court under the bench of Justices Anil K Narendran and K Babu, questioned the Guruvayoor Devaswom board about the Covid protocols that were breached at the wedding. Ravi Pillai is the founder of RP group of companies and is on  the Forbes list of India’s richest. South India star Mohanlal and wife Suchitra attended the wedding and clicked a picture with Ravi Pillai’s family at Guruvayoor.

The court pointed out that the ‘nadappanthal’ had huge cutouts and floral decorations making it look like an auditorium. The nadappanthal is usually a temporary structure set up in front of the temple to conduct functions like weddings. As per Covid protocol, only 12 people are allowed for each wedding at Guruvayoor but the video recording of the event proved otherwise with even security personnel being seen at the wedding. The court also questioned if other devotees were allowed to enter the premises, it pointed out that no discrimination is to be made among people and that all are to be treated equally.
