Kapil Dev hails Dhoni’s appointment as mentor for T20 World Cup

Kapil Dev welcomed the decision of making MS Dhoni the mentor of the Indian team for the T 20 World Cup to be held in Oman and the UAE from October 17 to November 14.
BCCI made a surprise announcement regarding Dhoni’s appointment. Dhoni wanted to contribute to the Indian team and he approached the former skipper with this proposal. The BCCI secretary was happy that Dhoni agreed to be a mentor for the team on the crucial assignment for Team India.


Dhoni is likely to join the squad after the completion of the Indian Premier League 2021. While he retired from international cricket in 2020, he continues to play for IPL. Currently, he is in Dubai and is training with his CSK teammates for the IPL which will resume from September 19.
India has announced a 15 man squad for the T 20 World Cup with 3 stand-by players. Off-spinner R. Ashwin is in the team while Yuzhendra Chahal, Krunal Pandya and Shikhar Dhawan have not been included.
