An Appellate Court in Missouri has upheld the verdict wherein $2.1 billion in damages was awarded  against Johnson & Johnson on the ground that the Company was aware of the fact that it’s talcum products contained asbestos. Women blamed their ovarian cancers to the company’s talcum products especially it’s baby powder. However the court slashed the compensation  of $4.69 billion awarded in July 2018 to less than half the amount.

Johnson & Johnson has many lawsuits against it from consumers who alleged that the talcum products were contaminated with asbestos and caused cancer. The company assured that it would stop selling it’s products in North America but continued to market their products in other countries across the globe. A spokeswoman of Johnson & Johnson said that they would seek a review of the order and defended it’s talcum products as safe.
