The launch of Jio Fiber by the Reliance group is bound to disrupt the broadband market in India. The company plans to launch the service on the 5th of September this year. It will have high speed internet broadband services starting from a speed of 100 Mbps and plans will start at a price of Rs 700 per month. India currently has around 18 million home broadband households.
Jio has plans to reach 8 million subscribers in this segment. Jio’s set top box will have a landline connection and access to Jio’s internet of things. It will offer free voice calls for life and unlimited calling to U.S. and Canada at a price of Rs 500 per month. It will also offer HD LED TV and digital Set top boxes to customers who opt for Jio Forever and annual plans.
