Diego Maradona is said to be one of the greatest footballers of all time. His jersey ‘Hand of God’ was sold at a record price at an auction at Sotheby’s in London. The jersey fetched a record shattering bid of $9.2 million that is around Rs 71 crore. Maradona scored two goals wearing this jersey in the quarter finals against England and both goals are famous for their uniqueness. Maradona had stated that the first goal was a little from the head of Maradona and a little with the hand of God.

The final bid was given by an anonymous buyer and has made the jersey the most expensive sports memorabilia in history. It has surpassed the earlier record of $8.8 million for the original hand-drawn Olympic manifesto sold in New York in 2019.
According to Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s head of streetwear and modern collectables, the jersey is the most coveted football shirt to ever come to auction.
