For the first time, an Assamese Indian rock band featured in the show America’s Got Talent. The band named Girish and The Chronicles received a standing ovation from judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara and Melanie ”Mel B”during the auditions on America’s Got Talent.
The band created history to become the first rock band to hit the AGT stage and also the first Indian band to get qualified for the next round.
The four member band performed a reverb-drenched cover of Adele’s song Set Fire to the Rain and left the judges spell bound. In fact Mel B called it her favourite performance of the season.
The band was formed in 2009 by brothers Girish and Yogesh Pradhan along with Suraz Karki and Nagen Mongrati. They initially performed in Gangtok’s underground scene inspired by rock legends like Die and Guns N Roses.
They later shifted to Bengaluru and now are representing the country at the global stage.
