IIT girl student bags President of India Prize

Kavitha Gopal, a B.Tech graduate in Computer Science and Engineering created history by becoming the first girl student of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras to win the President of India Prize. She received the Prize and medals from Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Institute’s 56th Convocation Ceremony held yesterday.
She secured a CGPA of 9. 95 and also won the Bharat Ratna M. Visvesvaraya Memorial Prize and the B.Ravichandran Memorial Prize for the highest CGPA in BTech. Computer Science and Engineering.  She was a student of Kendriya Vidhyalaya at Kalpakkam before joining IIT. She is currently employed as a software engineer at Google India at Bengaluru.
