The Madras High Court refused to order a CBI probe in the Ayanavaram child rape case. The judge said that no extraordinary grounds were made out by the accused for a CBI probe. Fourteen persons were accused in the case and they moved the High Court seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
They alleged that the local police did not conduct a free and fair investigation due to the media hype in the case. Justice Jagadish Chandira dismissed their petition.
